Three sentence movie reviews: Pitch Perfect

After the rather heavy Mysterious Skin, this was exactly what the doctor ordered.  I loved that--much in the style of Whip It--we got a movie about a female character who changes not because of a guy, but because she discovers another part of herself.  These movies are few and far between and I would like to see more of them.*

Cost: free from library
Where watched: at home.

*Also, I could have done with less graphic vomiting and the song "I Saw the Sign" which sticks in my head for weeks.
Also, also.  This movie pulled Matt in and he ended up watching it all the way through, which is something he rarely does.
And, plus.  Unlike Glee, I was not familiar with most of the songs the college-aged people were singing. But I enjoyed them anyway.

  1. I just watched that from the library too! I enjoyed it too. Although I had a hard time getting beyond the fact that almost everyone (except for the wonderfully uncategorizable Australian character) was so very skinny - made me wince to look at most of them. I don't even mean that ideologically, I just mean viscerally.

  2. Ah, that's what they do now, those actresses. Starve, poor things. If you watch a movie from the 80s most actresses look rather large by comparison. I'm hoping the pendulum will swing soon, though. I'm totally with you.

  3. I saw this movie at the dollar theater. Loved it! It's delightful. I keep wanting to see it again. The thing about it that drove me nuts though is that Anna Kendrick's "Cup Song" then got popular on the radio and I had to hear it ad nauseum at work which made me want to stab things.
