Three sentence movie reviews: Night Moves

This is a lot more talk-y than the other Kelly Reichardt film I watched, but by Hollywood movie standards--and especially in comparison to the last movie I watched--it's nearly silent.  Which is okay, because that gives you a lot of time to think about what's happening on screen.  It builds tension like crazy, especially for how laid back it was, and the acting is fan-tabulous.*

Cost:  $5.00, possibly $6.00.
Where watched:  Hollywood Theater.  Which is right on the 75 bus line.  I need to go here more.

*Mmmmm.  Peter Sarsgaard, why did you never become famous for your hunky good looks?  Probably better that you didn't, since your acting is so spot-on.  Also Jesse Eisenberg is his usual wonder and it's always nice to see Alia Shawkat.

  1. Hadn't heard of this one so I had to look it up to see what it's about. It sounds intriguing. I see that Peter Sarsgaard is one of those actors who's been in a lot of things I've seen but I've never really noticed him. Also, he's married to Maggie Gyllenhall, which is, sadly, probably the actual reason why I recognize his name.

  2. Well, your recognizing him via his spouse is usually only a thing we do with women. Rita Wison was on the episode of 'Girls" we watched the other night and when Matt asked who she was, I really struggled to not lead with, "married to Tom Hanks."

The first thing I remember seeing Peter Sarsgaard in was "Boys Don't Cry" and he was terrifying in that. (And also kind of hunky.)

  3. Nice find. I also like your commitment to go to Hollywood Theater more often. I hope its decor somehow reflects nicely its name!
