I'm not sure if Dallas has any of these shops, but I've found very good luck with the local artist/crafty stores. A lot of artists in Portland make postcards of their works and then sell them in places like Crafty Wonderland. Etsy might be a good place to look, too.
Man, people are so creative. I need to work harder to find better postcards here in Dallas. The only ones I've found so far are standard tourist fare.
