Postcards from Minnesota

This is a neighborhood-centric representation of St. Paul.  Alas, the sender lives in Minneapolis, so her neighborhood is not represented.  I'm interested as to why a chunker of land on the other side of the river is still St. Paul.  I would have assumed that the river would be the sensible dividing line.

I adore this postcard, from a bookstore.  It's design makes me look again.  And again and again and again. It's going to look great when it makes it to the wall display.

A very nice arty view of the Stone Arch Bridge, which I can't wait to see for myself.
Sadly, the postcards were labeled 1, 3, & 4 and #2 has gone missing. It's been a week and has not shown up.

  1. I still have such a huge soft spot for Minneapolis. I'd love to go back for a visit some day. I never spent much time in St. Paul. Back in my day, Minneapolis was the young, hip part of the Twin Cities and St. Paul was where you moved when you wanted to settle down & have a family. I wonder if the place that sold the cinnamon rolls as big as your head is still there?

The black and white card from the bookstore is super cool.

  2. What the neighborhood map card doesn't give is the orientation. As you have it North is to the right, Minneapolis is to the west (top), along which the Mississippi does divide the two cities. St Paul's piece across the river is confusingly called West Side, even though it is south of the river from downtown St Paul.

  4. I can't wait to take you to Wild Rumpus Bookstore. You will die. I swear it is what I hope my room in Heaven looks like.

I like that he could tell you that, I would not have been able to do. I am also annoyed that my postcards have gotten lost. They were cool and fun and for the wall. That is disappointing. Never happened when I sent things from Arlington. Suspicious!
